THE PRIM AND PROPA PROJECT - THE SKULLS AND ROSES COLLECTION

Welcome back guys! Today I'm giving you a look into The Skulls and Roses Collection! Back when I first stated making jewellery, like way back before I even thought about creating Prim and Propa, the first thing I made were some Skull Earrings. I remember buying a pack of multi-coloured skulls and one night I sat down in my living room got out my pliers and just started making them. I laid them all out once I had finished and felt so proud! Then when me and my friends got our studio I started thinking a little bit more about them and didn't think they were good enough, it wasn't until I started posting pictures on my Instagram that I felt more happy about them. Most of the coloured skulls sold at the Christmas Enterprise Market and I had to look into making more! Now at the time I had just released The Royal Collection and wanted to create something a little more edgier, I then found the skulls in black! ... Anyone who knows me will tell you that black is my all time fave, most of my wardrobe is black! So I started making them in black and also a stoney white! I loved the combination of the two, the colours are so classic and sophisticated yet the skulls are edgy and loud. I knew then that this next collection would be very monochrome! However I couldn't just release the two pairs so I had to start thinking of what else I could create, one of my friends Suki Sabur creates these amazing fabric roses that are really soft and pretty! I wanted to create something similar but with the theme behind the collection being edgy I needed to add something extra ... and so I used leather! Trust me this was not the easy choice because I had to hand sew through the leather and my fingers were extremely sore after but it was totally worth it! I used gunmetal studs to attach the flowers onto and transform them into earrings!

This collection was photographed on the same day as when I shot the pictures for The Buttercup Collection and I really liked the set design and thought it would work super well for this collection too! But I'll let you guys be the judge! Let me know what you guys think!

THE PRIM AND PROPA PROJECT - THE BUTTERCUP COLLECTION

Hello Guys! So I am back today with the next edition of 'The Prim and Propa Project' and today I am going to let you guys in on an exclusive collection. I created this collection quite soon after the release of my Sweet-Hearts collection, and I was mainly inspired by bridal wear! In my head these would be an amazing way to finish off a bridesmaids outfit. The colour palette I used was quite traditional in a way and mostly consists of whites, greys and yellow tones. Now most of my earrings are promoted on my facebook page however this one was completely exclusive to my Etsy Shop, so this is gonna be the first time I've really talked about it! To me its one of my more sophisticated ranges and I think it looks really elegant too! For my set design I really wanted a 'stripped down' look if that makes any sense! THE PRIM AND PROPA PROJECT - THE SWEET-HEARTS COLLECTION

With the Valentines Day just round the corner I wanted to create something a little more playful and bright! Something I have never really worked with is pastels and I wanted to steer clear of the more traditional pinks and red that are associated with the romantic day. I started looking at more pastel colours and noticed that the trend was all over the high street, I even wrote about it in the Pastel Trend post! Once I had decided on the color ways I started thinking about name ideas and also ideas on how to display them for pictures. My first collection I hand designed the backs but for my second collection I actually produced a little set to photograph the earrings on. Next to our studio was a spar store so we would go down there to pick up some snacks ans whatnot and one day I came accross Bassets Allsorts Sweets! It was like one of those light bulb moments if you know what I mean! I picked up a packet and took them back to the studio and started working on a set design, I ended up using the sweets in the set to highlight the pastel tones in the earrings and I thought it looked quite good! So with the set all up and the photos taken I still had to think of a name, with Valentines Day as the main inspiration for the designs I decided to go with The Sweet-Hearts Collection!

THE PRIM AND PROPA PROJECT - THE ROYAL COLLECTION

Hello everyone! The response from my last post was amazing, thank you so much! So I am back today with the second collection from The Prim and Propa Project and this one Is just as special as the last one. This collection was developed over a few months and it took a quite a while to narrow down my colour selection! I began the collection initially and named it The Gemstone Collection and wanted to use jewels and rhinestones and make it super blingy! Is that a word? I dunno! Anyway, I then hit a massive bump and changed my idea completely! The reaction from the Blush-Bows was super positive so I decided to something similar. I had a bit of a deadline with this collection because I needed to have it ready for a Christmas Enterprise Market I was invited to, so I was super stressed! I started off with a few fashion illustrations to inspire me and I created these four illustrations below!

 

 

I was really happy with the way the turned out! Let me know which one is your favourite, mine is the Lady in Brown! With these illustrations complete I decided I would still use gem colours purely because of how rich the colour palette would be. I also knew I wanted to use gold accents to emphasise these warm tones. After a lot of late night studio sessions I finally created The Royal Collection!

THE PRIM AND PROPA PROJECT - BLUSH BOWS

So in my 'About Me' section I mentioned that I had started up my own little jewellery business and today I'd like to let you all in on what it's all about! Over a year ago I started up an Etsy Shop and a Facebook Page for Prim and Propa, since then I have created earring collections. Now in no way is this post about me 'showing off' but I am super proud of what I have created and I feel really comfortable about sharing this with you guys!  Over the next few weeks I will take you through each of the collections, this week being the very first one I released! I was so nervous when this went out, I had absolutely no idea what the reaction was going to be like. In my mind I wanted to be this super successful jewellery designer but I know now that it will take a huge amount of time and effort to even get close to that! After the collection was released I got such amazing feedback from friends and family, it was so lovely to know that I had a really good amount of love and support. The bows were the first of many to be released, it has almost become a signature of mine. These bows were super quirky and fun! The colour palette I went for was monochrome with a pop of teal and crimson. For each bow I designed a back to photograph them on, hope you guys like them!

THE BODY SHOP HAUL

So a while ago me and a friend went into The Body Shop! I've been in there before but I've never really looked at anything? *If that makes any sense* However this time I had a proper wander around and I was surprised at the things that were in there! Below is what I ended up buying.

So as you guys may know I have a thing about grapefruit scents and so the main reason I went in was to pick up the grapefruit body mist, I was in two minds about it but I knew I wanted to get it! After spritzing a little and having a nose around the store I walked straight back over and picked it up. Now, I've had the bottle for around 3 weeks and I still have over three quarters of the bottle left which I think is amazing because I literally use it all the time! I even use it for my car ... #multifunctional! The next thing I picked up was a tin of coconut oil. My hair has been a nightmare recently, I feel like it's become really brittle and weak and so my friend recommended coconut oil. I was completely unsure about this purchase, it was the thought of putting oil in my hair? But I have to be honest, I absolutely love this stuff! Its not oily in the slightest, it comes in a waxy formula which melts in your hand. I tend to section my hair and add a small amount to my roots and then comb it through and then leave it in overnight. I've been using it once a week for three weeks and there hasn't been any major differences but my hair does feel healthier and shinier so we shall see how it goes! The next two things I got was the vitamin c face spritz and the peppermint cooling foot spray *which was free!* I haven't used these two much yet because it hasn't been super hot! However come summer I'm sure these two will come everywhere with me!
